Experience
Bruce H. Bernstein joined the firm in 1979. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bernstein served at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as an Examiner for five years, where he was responsible for examining patent applications related to packaging technology and electrical connectors. While at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Bernstein was also a law clerk at the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences and conducted special studies for the commissioner's office relating to pre-appeal conferences. Mr. Bernstein studied under Nobel Prize winner Dr. Allan Cormack (Physics-CT scanner) while at Tufts University.
Practice Areas
Mr. Bernstein oversees the firm's patent procurement practice group and is responsible for overseeing preparation of many of the firm's studies and opinions in the electrical and mechanical arts as a leader in the client counseling, licensing and technology transfer practice group. Mr. Bernstein is involved in patent licensing negotiations, on behalf of both licensors and licensees. Mr. Bernstein speaks Japanese and frequently travels to Japan and Korea. He also lectures on topics relating to procuring and enforcing patents, as well as dealing with assertions of patent infringement from both a legal and business perspective.
