Experience
Paul A. Braier joined the firm in 1995. Prior to joining the firm and earning his law degree, Dr. Braier earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Chicago and then worked as a Lady Davis postdoctoral fellow at Hebrew University.
Practice Areas
Dr. Braier is a supervisor in the client counseling, licensing and technology transfer practice group. His work in this group involves preparing and supervising preparation of infringement and validity opinions, as well as counseling clients, particularly in the pharmaceutical, chemical, and medical arts. Dr. Braier is involved extensively in the firm's pharmaceutical practice and advises generic and branded drug companies on strategic planning and new product introduction. In this regard, he works extensively with Hatch-Waxman issues and the interface of patent and FDA law.
Dr. Braier also prepares and prosecutes patent applications in the pharmaceutical and chemical arts as an attorney in the patent procurement practice group. He has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in areas including pharmaceutical dosage forms and methods of use, polymer synthesis, papermaking technology, textiles, semiconductors, medical devices, and others.
Dr. Braier is a panelist in an annual seminar given in association with the annual conferences of the International Generic Pharmaceutical Association. He has also spoken at other public events, including the United States Pharmacopeia and CBI's Generic Drugs Forums on intellectual property issues regarding generic drugs.
