Patent Procurement Practice Group

Greenblum & Bernstein's patent procurement practice group has assisted clients in procuring patent protection in all areas of technology for more than 25 years.

Services provided by the group include conducting patentability studies and drafting and prosecuting patent applications. The group includes members with expertise in every stage of the patenting process, from satisfying the duty of disclosure to appealing the rejection of claims to the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. Members of the group also assist clients in establishing procedures for managing research and development activities as these activities relate to development of a patent portfolio.

The patent procurement practice group obtains patents for clients ranging from small, private companies to Fortune 50 corporations. The group works directly with inventors, in-house counsel, and overseas patent professionals to develop intellectual protection strategies for client patent portfolios.

Approximately half of the members of Greenblum & Bernstein's patent procurement practice group were previously employed at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Eight of the senior attorneys in the group previously served for more than ten years inside the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The firm relies on these professionals to train junior attorneys and supervise patent procurement activities. Thus, the firm's professionals are able to effectively navigate through the patent procurement process and obtain strong patents for the firm's clients.

The patent procurement practice group periodically prepares and distributes patent newsletters for clients at no charge. Members of the group have lectured extensively (including in-house lectures for corporate clientele) on U.S. patent practice, including patent procurement and the duty of candor before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
