Experience
Arnold Turk joined the firm in 1988. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Turk served at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as an Examiner for over fifteen years, where he was responsible for examining patent applications related to analytical and clinical chemistry, chemical reactors, destructive distillation, heating and illuminating gas generation, liquid and solid separation, sterilization, and cleaning. Later, Mr. Turk examined almost exclusively in the analytical chemistry technology, for which he was promoted to Senior Patent Examiner and awarded the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bronze Medal Award for superior performance.
In 1987 Mr. Turk attained the position of Special Program Examiner in the Office of the Assistant Commissioner for Patents. As a Special Program Examiner, Mr. Turk was primarily responsible for handling duty of disclosure issues under 37 CFR 1.56, particularly in complex matters including reissue applications.
Practice Areas
Mr. Turk supervises patent application preparation and prosecution in the chemical, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical arts as a reviewing attorney in the firm's patent procurement practice group. As a reviewing attorney, he is responsible for training and reviewing the work of junior associates and patent agents in the chemical, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical arts.
Mr. Turk is also a member of the firm's patent appeals, petitions and special procedures practice group, in which he supervises complex matters including declarations, reexaminations, and reissues. Mr. Turk is also responsible for formulating the firm's policies regarding patent preparation and prosecution.
