Job Description
Mid-size Intellectual Property law firm in Reston, VA is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant. Responses requested from direct candidates only. This position can be worked in-office or a hybrid teleworking schedule.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities of the Legal Assistant include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining electronic files and ensure emails, letters and documents are properly stored in the firm’s electronic document management systems;
- Assisting attorneys with managing and answering daily docket entries relating to the prosecution of patent applications;
- Assisting attorneys in preparing correspondence from system templates;
- Filing documents and fees with the patent office;
- Preparing and reviewing reporting letters and invoices;
- Providing back-up support to team and department for coverage and project assistance as needed.
The successful candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced, paper and electronic environment, and independently prioritize workload to meet filing due dates and other deadlines. Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational skills, and attention to detail are required.
Requirements
Education: Minimum High School degree (Bachelor preferred but not mandatory)
Experience: 1 year office experience and 0-2 years patent prosecution experience preferred.
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), document management, file management, calendaring, Adobe and other software)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00/year – $50,000.00/year, commensurate with experience
